Women's Volleyball Battle To The End In Hard Fought Match
BARRIE, ON -- The Georgian Grizzlies put up a spirited fight but fell short in a tightly contested match against George Brown on Michele McConney Court. The Grizzlies claimed the first set in a thrilling 26-24 finish, showcasing their grit and determination. However, they couldn't maintain the momentum as George Brown rallied back to take the next three sets (25-19, 25-22, 25-23) and secure the 3-1 victory.
Emma Kot (Weyburn, SK) led the offensive charge for Georgian with an impressive 12 kills on 29 attempts, achieving a .207 hitting percentage. Patrycja Sajda (Scarborough, ON) also had a strong outing, contributing 11 kills and three service aces, while Brooklyn Smith (Barrie, ON) added six kills and three solo blocks. Setter Mackenzie Roy (Edmonton, AB) played a pivotal role in orchestrating the attack, dishing out 34 assists and contributing defensively with 10 digs.
Defensively, the Grizzlies showcased resilience with 60 digs as a team, led by Cassidy McClenaghan (Whitby, ON)’s 13 digs. Despite a commendable defensive effort and moments of brilliance, Georgian's 25 attack errors proved costly in their pursuit of victory.
The loss drops Georgian’s record as they continue their season, while the team looks to regroup and build on the positives from a hard-fought match.
