Women's Volleyball Come Up Short on the Road
OTTAWA, ON -- The Georgian Grizzlies put up a fight on the road but fell in straight sets to La Cité on January 26, 2025, with scores of 21-25, 15-25, and 23-25. Despite the loss, the Grizzlies showed flashes of resilience, particularly in the opening and closing sets, where they kept the game competitive. Setter Monika Kochanowski (Windsor, ON) facilitated the offense with 14 assists while contributing 9 digs on the defensive end. Outside hitter Patrycja Sajda (Scarborough, ON) led Georgian’s attack, recording a team-high 6 kills on 23 attempts while adding 3 service aces to finish with 11 points. Brooklyn Smith (Barrie, ON) was highly efficient, posting 4 kills on 9 swings for a .444 hitting percentage, one of the team’s bright spots offensively.
Defensively, libero Cassidy McClenaghan (Whitby, ON) led the charge with 15 digs, helping the Grizzlies keep extended rallies alive. As a team, Georgian totaled 51 digs, showing their effort in keeping plays alive despite La Cité’s steady offensive pressure. Service struggles hampered the Grizzlies’ momentum, as they committed 13 service errors compared to La Cité’s 7. While the result wasn’t in their favor, Georgian displayed moments of strong play and will look to build on those positives as they prepare for their next challenge.
