Women's Volleyball Show Fight but Fall Short
OTTAWA, ON -- The Georgian Grizzlies faced a challenging match, falling to the Algonquin Wolves in straight sets (8-25, 18-25, 23-25). Despite the loss, several players delivered notable performances.
Setter Monika Kochanowski (Windsor, ON) led the offense with 10 assists and contributed two kills on three attempts, achieving a .667 hitting percentage. Outside hitter Emma Kot (Weyburn, SK) topped the team with six kills, though she faced a formidable Algonquin defense, resulting in a .038 hitting percentage over 26 attempts. Brooklyn Smith (Barrie, ON) and Neveah Garcia (Barrie, ON) added three and four kills, respectively. The team also found success at the service line, recording seven aces. Defensively, libero Cassidy McClenaghan (Whitby, ON) anchored the backcourt with a team-high 14 digs.
Although the Grizzlies did not secure a win, they demonstrated resilience, particularly in the third set, pushing the Wolves to a close 23-25 finish. As the season progresses, Georgian aims to enhance offensive efficiency and reduce unforced errors, building on individual contributions to achieve cohesive team success.
