Women's Basketball Dominate Fourth Quarter to Seal Victory over Centennial
Barrie, ON -- The Georgian Grizzlies took charge at home, defeating the Centennial Colts 72-61 in a spirited performance on Michele McConney Court. From the tip-off, Georgian displayed a balanced offense, leading 20-14 at the end of the first quarter. Though Centennial clawed back in the second, narrowing the halftime score to 36-38, the Grizzlies maintained composure and saved their best for last. Outscoring the Colts 22-8 in the final frame, Georgian's defense and decisive play secured the win.
Sydney Shawyer (Horseshoe Valley, ON) emerged as the night’s top scorer, netting 23 points and sinking 4 of her 9 three-point attempts, while Lily Roberts-Neef (St. Thomas, ON) delivered an all-around effort with 17 points, 9 assists, and 4 steals. The Grizzlies’ shooting efficiency, at 39.4% from the field, proved superior to Centennial’s 29.9%, making the difference in a game where every possession mattered. The win marks a statement for Georgian as they continue their season on a high note.
