Women's Basketball Defensive Masterclass Secures 74-41 Victory At Durham
Oshawa, ON -- The Georgian Grizzlies Women’s Basketball team delivered a commanding performance in their 74-41 victory over Durham College. From the start, Georgian seized control, outscoring Durham 23-14 in the first quarter and expanding their lead to 45-23 by halftime.
Sydney Shawyer (Horseshoe Valley, ON) led the charge for the Grizzlies, racking up a game-high 17 points and seven rebounds, showing her versatility on both ends of the court. Ami May (Raymond, AB) added 15 points and a team-high eight rebounds, keeping Durham’s defense on edge with her relentless presence.
Lily Roberts-Neef (St. Thomas, ON) and Kory Hook (Barrie, ON) contributed 10 points each, with Roberts-Neef adding six steals to disrupt Durham’s offense repeatedly. Hook's three-point shooting helped open up the floor, making her an asset beyond the arc.
The Grizzlies' defensive effort was just as impressive, holding Durham to single digits in the second and third quarters. The Grizzlies’ relentless rebounding and swift ball movement, exemplified by their 17 assists, allowed them to maintain a significant lead and close the game comfortably.
