Men's Volleyball sweep Fleming in Home Opener
Barrie, ON -- The Georgian Grizzlies men’s volleyball team dominated their home opener in style with a commanding 3-0 sweep over the Fleming Phoenix on Wednesday night at the Michele McConney Court.
Georgian came out strong, taking the first set 25-22, before asserting their dominance in the second (25-17) and closing the match in emphatic fashion with a 25-12 win in the third. The Grizzlies' balanced attack and steady defense were too much for the Knights, who struggled to find their rhythm throughout the contest.
Leading the way for Georgian was Ryan Vreizma (Midhurst, ON), who recorded 5 kills and added a service ace while hitting an impressive .571. Vreizma’s consistency was complemented by Liam Thomas (Toronto, ON), who contributed 5 kills on 6 attempts, finishing with an outstanding .833 hitting percentage.
At the setter position, Logan Underwood (Whitby, ON) orchestrated the offense brilliantly, dishing out 21 assists to go along with 4 digs, while Aiden Kenney (Barrie, ON) was a force at the service line with 3 aces.
With the win, the Grizzlies (2-0) will look to build momentum as they prepare for their next matchup hosting Loyalist on Saturday October 26 at 3:00 pm.
