Grizzlies keep the crown, defeat Sheridan in annual Battle of the Bears match
OAKVILLE, ON -- The Georgian Grizzlies powered past the Sheridan Bruins with a convincing 45-12 victory in the annual Battle of the Bears showdown. The Grizzlies, now retain the coveted bear trophy until their next meeting in the fall of 2025.
Georgian took control early, building a commanding lead heading into halftime. Leading the charge was Rielly Kirk (Wasaga Beach, ON), who was unstoppable with two tries, setting the tone for a Grizzlies squad firing on all cylinders. Kade Rennie (Collingwood, ON) further bolstered the attack, converting for 10 points and adding a try of his own.
The Phillips brothers, Ethan and Luke (Minesing, ON), each found their way into the end zone, scoring a try apiece, highlighting the depth of Georgian's talent. Additional tries from Parker England (Barrie, ON) and Rylan Moulton (Barrie, ON) sealed the Bruins' fate, as the Grizzlies' relentless offensive pressure overwhelmed their opponents.
With this win, the Grizzlies' sights are set on their next challenge—hosting the Humber Hawks on Saturday, October 5th, at 1:00 pm on J.C. Massie Field in a highly anticipated rematch of the 2023 OCAA gold medal game.
