Men's Rugby Battle to the End, Fall Short in Bronze Medal Clash Against St. Lawrence
Kingston, ON -- In a hard-fought bronze medal match, the Georgian Grizzlies battled until the final whistle but fell just short against the St. Lawrence Surge, ending with a close 18-12 loss. Despite the outcome, the Grizzlies showed resilience throughout, with Parker England (Barrie, ON) leading the charge by scoring two tries to keep Georgian within striking distance.
The game was intense from the start, marked by a series of back-and-forth plays as both teams worked to assert control. Each time the Surge seemed to pull ahead, the Grizzlies responded, showcasing their tenacity and drive to fight until the final moments.
Adding to the occasion, the league recognized its standout players following the match. Rielly Kirk (Wasaga Beach, ON), the OCAA Player of the Year, was honored alongside Ian Crawford (Barrie, ON), who earned the West Division Defensive Player of the Year award. All-Star accolades went to Jake Boulding (Barrie, ON) and Ethan Phillips (Minesing, ON), while Luke Phillips (Minesing, ON) received Rookie Team recognition.
Though the season didn’t conclude with the podium finish the Grizzlies hoped for, they walked off the field with a sense of pride that reflects a season marked by standout performances and dedicated team play.
