Men's Basketball Hold Off George Brown in 87-80 Victory
Toronto, ON -- The Georgian Grizzlies secured a hard-fought 87-80 victory over the George Brown Huskies in a tightly contested OCAA matchup at Casa Loma. Georgian dominated the first half, building a commanding 26-13 lead in the first quarter and extending their advantage to 50-35 at halftime. Though George Brown rallied with strong performances in the third and fourth quarters, the Grizzlies held their ground to secure the win.
Alberto Lopez (Dominican Republic) led the charge for the Grizzlies with a game-high 21 points on 10-of-16 shooting, showcasing his efficiency in the paint. Uzziah Glasgow (Vaughan, ON) and Jason Sache (Kanata, ON) contributed with 15 and 14 points, respectively, while Kevonte Anderson (Toronto, ON) controlled the boards with an impressive 14 rebounds and seven assists. The Grizzlies' balanced team effort was evident as they shot a solid 48.5% from the field and maintained a strong defensive presence with 11 steals.
Despite the loss, George Brown showed resilience, cutting into Georgian’s lead late in the game. However, the Huskies' struggles from beyond the arc (18.4%) and the free-throw line (58.3%) ultimately proved costly. Georgian’s ability to capitalize on turnovers and maintain composure in the final minutes ensured their victory.
