Grizzlies Wrap Up Strong Performances at 2024 OCAA Golf Championships
Barrie, ON -- The Georgian Grizzlies concluded the 2024 OCAA Golf Championships at Barrie Country Club with both individual and team highlights, as several players made significant moves in the final round, and both men’s and women’s teams secured spots at the CCAA Golf Championships hosted by Humber College.
Men’s Individual Scores: Graeme MacDougall (Huntsville, ON) and Chris Miller (Huntsville, ON), two of Georgian’s standout performers, finished tied for 10th place with matching final scores of +19 over three rounds. MacDougall’s consistency and Miller’s poise kept them near the top of the leaderboard throughout the event. Gavin Prosser (Johnstown, ON) made a steady climb on the final day, moving up four spots to finish tied for 22nd at +26. Jack Short (Conestogo, ON) also gained momentum, jumping two places to finish 28th with a total score of +29. Colton Day (Kamloops, BC) rounded out the Grizzlies' effort, finishing in 30th place at +31.
The men’s team finished 4th overall, 22 strokes behind Fanshawe but comfortably 15 strokes ahead of Durham. This strong team performance earned them a coveted spot in the upcoming CCAA Golf Championships, where they will look to build on their OCAA success.
Women’s Individual Scores: Bryden Dilley (Barrie, ON) capped off an excellent tournament by securing a bronze medal in the individual women’s competition. Dilley’s final score of +26, just two strokes ahead of 4th place, highlighted her resilience and precision over the three rounds. Avery Foy (Golden Lake, ON) finished 7th with a score of +76, while Danielle Zwolak (Mississauga, ON) followed closely, finishing 8th at +79.
As a team, the Georgian women clinched 3rd place, earning bronze medals and booking their spot at the CCAA Championships. The Grizzlies women now turn their attention to the national stage, where they will aim to continue their impressive run.
Looking Ahead: Both the men's and women's teams have punched their tickets to the CCAA Golf Championships, giving them the opportunity to compete among the best collegiate golfers in the country.
