Grizzlies Make Moves in Round 2 at 2024 OCAA Golf Championships
Barrie, ON -- The Georgian Grizzlies continued to make strides in Round 2 of the 2024 OCAA Golf Championships at Barrie Country Club, with several athletes climbing the leaderboard and delivering strong performances to keep their team in contention.
Women’s Individual Scores: Bryden Dilley (Barrie, ON) shone once again, improving her position with a stellar round of 79. This performance pushed her into 4th place overall, finishing the first two rounds at +16, just one spot higher than her Round 1 standing. Avery Foy (Golden Lake, ON) also had a breakthrough, carding a second-round 79, moving her into 7th place with a total score of +49. Danielle Zwolak (Mississauga, ON) followed closely behind, securing 8th place with a consistent showing and a total of +55.
With these standout performances, the Grizzlies women's team maintained their hold on 3rd place with a cumulative score of +65. They now sit just 17 strokes behind St. Clair, leaving plenty of room for a final-round surge.
Men’s Individual Scores: On the men’s side, Chris Miller (Huntsville, ON) continued to lead the Grizzlies, firing a 75 in Round 2 to solidify his position in 2nd place at +4 for the tournament. Graeme MacDougall (Huntsville, ON) made a notable jump, moving up six spots on the leaderboard to tie for 6th after an impressive round of 76, bringing his total to +11.
Colton Day (Kamloops, BC) added to the team’s momentum with a solid round of 78, tying him for 22nd overall with a score of +19. Gavin Prosser (Johnstown, ON) showed resilience, while Jack Short (Conestogo, ON) finished Round 2 with a score of 81, tying for 30th at +22.
The men’s team remains in 4th place overall with a team score of +51, only 4 strokes behind 3rd place St. Clair and 10 strokes off the pace of Fanshawe. With such tight margins, the Grizzlies will look to capitalize on their momentum and make a push for the top spots in the final round.
