Ashtyn Smith delivered a career-best season in her fifth year with the Georgian Grizzlies, helping lead the team back to the playoffs for the first time since the 2021–2022 season.
The Barrie native anchored the Grizzlies’ defense as the team finished the regular season 9–7, securing their postseason spot. Smith led the league in total digs (260) and digs per set (4.19); both career highs and both league-best marks.
Her standout performance earned her OCAA Second Team All-Star honours, recognizing her as one of the top liberos in the conference.
Smith’s consistency in the backcourt gave Georgian stability in serve receive and defense all season long. Her ability to extend rallies and keep plays alive played a key role in the team’s turnaround and playoff push.
With 260 digs added to her total this year, Smith also surpassed the 500 career dig milestone. A reflection of the steady impact she’s had throughout her Grizzlies career.
In her final season, she didn’t just raise her own level, she helped raise the standard.
