Grizzlies dominate Surge, advance to 2023 OCAA Rugby Championships
BARRIE, ON -- The Georgian Grizzlies crushed the St. Lawrence Surge, 57-10 in Ontario Collegiate Athletic Asssociation (OCAA) men's rugby semi final action.
Georgian started the game strong thanks to Duncan Montague's (Barrie, ON) efforts, scoring two trys in the first 16 minutes of the game. The Surge tried all they could, but the Grizzlies' offense was not going to be stopped. Rahal Delpachitra (Sri Lanka) added another two trys in the first half. Georgian led 24-10 heading into halftime.
The second half was all Georgian with trys scored by Rielly Kirk (Wasaga Beach, ON), James Robb-Kennedy (Barrie, ON), Parker England (Barrie, ON), Matthew Turco (Stoufville, ON), and Donovan Jacko (Barrie, ON). Turco also went 5 for 8 on converts on the day. The Grizzlies went on to shut out the Surge in the second half, enroute to a 57-10 victory.
The Grizzlies will be back in action on J.C. Massie Field at 1:00pm on Sunday, November 12 in the 2023 OCAA Men's Rugby Gold Medal Match against the Humber Hawks.
