Georgian's Matt LeMay continued an incredible run of golf on Tuesday, defeating Brad Wadsworth in the Ontario Men's Match Play Championship's opening round.
Having played 122 holes over the past eight days, including an impressive four-over performance at yesterday's U.S. Open Sectional qualifying event, the Golf Management student took out Wadsworth in convincing fashion, six and four.
With the win LeMay advances to tomorrow's round of thirty-two. Another Wednesday morning victory would see the Waterloo native potentially playing thirty-six holes in a day for the second time since Monday, upping his nine day total to as many as 156 holes.
Over the past week LeMay has tallied twenty-sixth and forty-fourth place finishes at the Canadian University/College Championship and U.S. Open Sectional Qualifying Event. Grouped with the world's 76th ranked player Kevin Streelman yesterday, LeMay had the eighth best finish of all amateurs competing in the qualifying event.
He will tee off tomorrow morning at Grandview Golf Club with a chance to advance to the round of sixteen.
