Grizzlies LeMay, paired with PGA Tour Pro’s, wraps up solid performance at U.S. Open Sectional

Georgian’s Matt LeMay has wrapped up the first of two rounds he will play at today’s U.S. Open Sectional qualifying event in Ohio, often referred to as “Golf’s Longest Day”.

UPDATE: LeMay matched his first round +2 with a second round +2 at Kinsale Golf Club, wrapping up U.S. Open Sectional qualifying at a solid four-over.

He now heads to the Ontario Men's Match Play Championship where he will take on Brad Wadsworth to open the Tournament Tuesday morning. For live scoring of the Match Play Championship's opening round click here.

Georgian's Matt LeMay has wrapped up the first of two rounds he will play at today's U.S. Open Sectional qualifying event in Ohio, often referred to as "Golf's Longest Day".

The Waterloo native was consistent throughout the round at Wedgewood Golf and Country Club, with one birdie and three bogeys to go along with fourteen pars. His score of +2 has him currently sitting in a tie for fifty-sixth among the field of 103.

LeMay's group includes a pair of PGA Tour pro's, the world 76th ranked player Kevin Streelman and Bud Cauley. The CCAA National Bronze medalist is coming off a solid performance at last week's Canadian University/College Championship in British Columbia were he finished in a tie for twenty-sixth.

LeMay will now tee off for the day's second eighteen at Kinsale Golf and Fitness Club.

The second year Golf Management student will quickly turn around at days end and head straight for Hunstville and Tuesday's Ontario Match Play Championship. He opens the sixty-four man match play tournament against Brad Wadsworth, with the second and third round scheduled for Wednesday, quarter and semi-final Thursday, and championship Friday.

When all is said and done he could potentially play 216 holes in eleven days.
