The Georgian Grizzlies women's volleyball team hosted the Georgian Invitational on Saturday at the Athletic Centre in Barrie.
Three teams competed in a modified tournament format as Georgian welcomed in both the George Brown Huskies and the Redeemer Royals.
The Grizzlies were impressive in their first match against George Brown winning the game by sweeping the sets 4-0 with scores of 25-19, 25-13, 25-16 and 25-17.
Georgian wrapped up the day by battling the Redeemer Royals in a close match but the Grizzlies fell 3-1 (25-14, 13-25, 25-12, 25-19).
In the other match at the tournament the Royals defeated the Huskies 4-0 (25-12, 25-18, 25-19, 25-14).
Georgian will travel to play the Conestoga Condors this coming Wednesday, Oct. 3 in another preseason matchup and they will play one final tune-up at the Niagara Invitational tournament Oct. 13 & 14.
The Grizzlies will play their first game of the OCAA regular season on Friday, Oct. 19 when they host the Seneca Sting in their home opener.
Game time is 6 p.m. with tickets available at the doors for $5.
