The Georgian Grizzlies men's volleyball team was recognized with several individual awards winners at the start of the 2018 OCAA Men's Volleyball Championship presented by belairdirect hosted by Georgian College.
Liam Gray (Barrie) was recognized for his tremendous season yet again by being named a Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) All-Canadian.
Gray is now a two-time winner of the award, having been named a CCAA All-Canadian last season. He is the only men's volleyball athlete in Georgian history to be named as an All-Canadian. The third year setter led the league as the only player in the OCAA to post double-digits in assists-per-set with 10.05.
An incredible five Georgian players were named to the OCAA east division 1st team all-star team with Gray joining teammates Ryan DeBruyn (Ottawa), Darien Haynes (Barrie), Matt Kerr (Wingham) and Keith Roberts (Creemore) with the honour.
Fifth year veteran Jake Edwards (Barrie) was named to the OCAA east division 2nd all-star team for a tremendous final season at Georgian.
Georgian plays host to the 2018 OCAA Men's Volleyball Championship from Feb. 22-24 at the Georgian Athletic Centre in Barrie.
The Grizzlies will open the tournament Thursday night at 8 p.m. when they take on the Niagara Knights in the quarter-finals.
Ticket packages for the 2018 OCAA Men's Volleyball Championship are available on site at the Georgian Athletic Centre with tournament packages for all three-days available for $20 for adults and $10 for students/seniors. Individual day passes for each day of the Championship are available for $10 for adults and $5 for students/seniors. Children 12 years old and under will be admitted for free.
