MEN'S BASKETBALL WIN THIRD STRAIGHT WITH VICTORY OVER ALGONQUIN

The Georgian Grizzlies men's basketball team hosted their annual Bell Let's Talk Game on Saturday afternoon as they took on the Algonquin Thunder at the Georgian Athletic Centre.

Everyone in attendance got some thunder sticks to "make some noise" for mental health along with some other great prizes up for grabs.

There was a lot to cheer about in the men's game.

Coming off a huge win the night before, the Grizzlies kept that momentum going playing another strong team game to defeat the Thunder 78-65.

All five of Georgian's starters in the game had double-digits in scoring led by Anthony Meggo (Whitby) who had a team-high 19 points as he continues his hot streak.

Tyler Vanessen (Whitby) had 17 points, Jaan Bukhari (Newmarket) had 16, Sean Dutton (Orillia) had 14 and Daniel Martyn (Barrie) scored 12 points to round out the team's scoring.

Georgian has now won three straight games and improved their record to 8-7 on the season as they have quickly moved into a three-way tie for fourth place in the OCAA east division standings.

The Grizzlies will next head out on the road as they take on the Durham Lords on Friday, Feb. 1 in Oshawa.

Georgian will play their next home games on Friday, Feb. 8 when they host the Seneca Sting with the women's game beginning at 6 p.m. followed by the men's game at 8 p.m.

Tickets for the double-header are available at the doors for $5 at the Georgian Athletic Centre.
